WINNER

Beaches glisten
The days wax long
The robins trill
A joyful song

The ice cream trucks
Wind down the streets
With cherry pops
And frosty treats

The sun burns high
The berries bright
The sprinklers hiss
Into the night

The insects drone
All afternoon
The schools let out –
At last it’s June.

We’d love to buy it,” signed Editor June.

Rejection letter in my hand,
A trip to the saloon.
There goes my fantasy so sweet,
No huge advance in June.
