Join debut picture book author Keenan Jones as he shares his decade-long journey to publishing Saturday Morning at the 'Shop. As a Black male educator-turned-author, he’ll discuss the challenges, lessons, and triumphs of breaking into the industry, the power of authentic storytelling, and what kept him going through the ups and downs. Whether you're just starting or deep in the process, this session will inspire you to stay the course and tell the stories that matter.

Keenan Jones is an educator, author, and storyteller passionate about uplifting authentic Black narratives in children’s literature. His debut picture book, Saturday Morning at the 'Shop, is a celebration of community, culture, and the special bond between Black boys and their barbers. After a decade of persistence, rejections, and learning the publishing industry, Keenan finally landed his first book deal—proving that perseverance pays off. As a dedicated educator, he brings his love for literacy into the classroom, inspiring young readers and future storytellers. Keenan is committed to amplifying diverse voices and ensuring that every child sees themselves reflected in books.
