We're a lively and friendly group, and all are welcome – whether you’re well-published or just taking your first steps in the field. SCBWI Australia West is a partner organisation of the Australian Society of Authors.

SCBWI Australia West supports organisations and charities that champion children’s literacy and foster a love of reading. From the Children’s Book Council of Western Australia, The Fremantle Literature Centre and Books in Homes through to our wonderful independent book sellers, we proudly support their work and their goal of creating a love of books in children.

SCBWI Australia West would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet and work, and all traditional custodians of country throughout Australia. We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ continuing connection to land, place, waters and community. We pay our respects to their cultures, country, and elders past, present and emerging.

For over 50 years the Australian Society of Authors has been providing advocacy, support and advice to Australian creators. One of their great achievements was the campaign for Public Lending Rights and Educational Lending Rights which provides payments to creators for works in libraries, as well as the foundation of the Copyright Agency, which has created an additional income stream for many writers.
