Kaz Windness (windnessbooks.com) is an award-winning, genre-crossing artist and author of more than a dozen books, including Worm and Caterpillar are Friends (Theodor Geisel Honor), Bitsy Bat, School Star, Swim, Jim! (Colorado Book Awards Winner), Ollie the Acorn and the Mighty Idea, and When You Love a Book. Proudly neurodiverse, Kaz specializes in funny and heartfelt character-driven books that celebrate inclusivity, grit, and kindness. Kaz is a professor of illustration and curriculum author at the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, and she loves inspiring students to tell their own stories. Kaz loves squishy-faced dogs, waffles, thrifting, and all things Halloween. Her favorite art mediums are ink, watercolor, collage, and pencil, but she mainly illustrates digitally. There’s not much she won’t turn into an art supply. Kaz lives in Colorado with her English teacher husband, two teen children, and a bunny-obsessed Boston Terrier named Remy.
